The Austrian Neuroscience Association
(ANA, Österreichische Gesellschaft für Neurowissenschaften, ÖGN)
was founded in 1993 for the advancement and public representation
of the neurosciences in Austria.
All physical persons pursuing or having completed
academic degrees may become members.
Membership fees are reduced for students.
Topics:
Biochemistry, Physiology, Zoology, Ethology, Psychology, Linguistics, Pharmacology, Neurology, Psychiatry etc.

Austrian Nobel Laureates in the Neurosciences


The ANA is a member of the FENS
(Federation of European Neuroscience Societies)
and organizes national meetings.

The ANA Meeting 2009 was held September 16-18 in St.Virgil, Salzburg.
Every other year the meeting is
integrated in the FENS Forum.

In 2006, July 8. - 12.
the FENS Forum took place in Vienna
organized by ANA and the German NWG..

More than 5000 Scientists from 76 countries representing many disciplines assembled in the Austria Center Vienna to communicate in 56 Symposia and 9 plenary sessions based on more than 3500 talks and posters on the nervous system and its functions.

Further activities of ANA (see menue)
ANA is representing the Austrian neuroscience community
in international neuroscience organizations
as well as in national affairs including issues of public awareness and funding policy.

Every second year the "OTTO-LOEWI Preis" is awarded for excellent scientific achievements in the neurosciences. The prize is endorsed with € 5300.- and is sponsored by .

Twice per year the Society publishes a NEWSLETTER.
The ANA-WEBSITE is a platform for information exchange on national and international activities.

The ANA is engaged in the Brain Awareness Week of the DANA Alliance for the Brain
(every March) with the goal, to bring the neurosciences closer to the public.
Since 1999 we present the collected information on all Austrian neuroscience teaching activities
at the ANA website.
