The Collection of Women's Estates | Print |

The Collection of Women’s Estates "Sammlung Frauennachlässe" was started in 1991 and aims to systematize and to assess private documents and photographs of women or couples or of children, relatives or friends of the women.

The approximately 199 estates (spring/summer 2011) already archived, dating mostly from the 19th and 20th centuries, are partly very comprehensive and contain widely differing literary genres, from household records to hand-written or typed notes, diaries and calendrical notes, letters and other correspondence to official documents and school books, literary manuscripts and photographs.

A databank of literature and a collection of selected contributions on historical and cultural studies on feminist autographical or biographical research complete the “Sammlung Frauennachlässe.” One goal of the research platform is also to establish a network with other similar European archives.
