EMU Research Excellence Medal

The annually awarded silver medal is for young scientists who make significant contributions to research and who are active in strengthening European scientific links.


The EMU Medal Committee calls upon the member societies and all European mineralogists for nominations.

The award ceremony will be held before the medal talk given during an international meeting of relevance to Mineralogical Sciences selected according to the winner’s expertise. EMU will provide partial support to the travel expenses.

Nominations of candidates (not older than 40 years) may be made on a personal as well as on a group or society base.
Proposals including the curriculum vitae and the publication list of the candidate together with a letter of recommendation should preferable be sent by e-mail to emilm@geo.ku.dk. In addition, supporting letters are welcomed, even they are not required for an evaluation.
Please add any documents which might help the EMU Medal Committee to evaluate the scientific profile of the candidate.
If possible, please compile all documents in one file (e.g. compiled in a word or *.pdf file).
The completed nomination package must be sent by January 31 for consideration by the Committee for the respective year's award.
