Job opening, Faculty of Mathematics, Univ. Vienna (Oct. 2005):

The newly founded ``European Center for Time-Frequency Analysis''
(EUCETIFA)
in the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Vienna
announces several openings for Postdoctoral Positions starting in fall 2005.

EUCETIFA is a Marie-Curie Excellence Center funded by the EU to
advance research and applications of mathematical time-frequency
analysis. See

http://www.univie.ac.at/NuHAG/EUCETIFA/eucetifah.htm

for a project summary. Areas of interest include time-varying systems and
pseudodifferential operators, harmonic analysis with time-frequency
methods, and their numerical analysis.

Candidates are expected to collaborate with members of the EUCETIFA
group on a specific project. The group is looking for mathematicians
with one to five years of experience after their Ph. D. and one of
the following profiles:
(a) Strong background in mathematical time-frequency analysis,
harmonic analysis, or functional analysis, and established potential
for independent research.
(b) Experience in numerical analysis or computational mathematics and
the willingness to apply the expertise to problems in time-frequency
analysis.
(c) Experience in electrical engineering (communication theory, signal and
image processing) and a strong mathematical background (degree in
engineering is possible).

The positions are one to three years starting from October 1,
2005 within an international research team. The working language will be English.

Recruitment will observe the objectives of the FP6-initiative of
the EU and emphasize the transnational European character of the team. The
University of Vienna is committed to employment equity
and specifically encourages applications from women and minorities.

Since the hiring process for 2005 is over by now the corresponding WWW-page is closed (by August 2005).

Informal applications should be sent via email to one of the addresses below as a single pdf-file of their
curriculum vitae including a list of publications and a brief description of prior research, named "yourname.pdf" (not just "cv.pdf"), and  "EUCETIFA application" in the subject line.

Moreover, two letters of recommendation (in English or German) should be arranged to be sent to the address given below. Review of applications will start on March 15 until positions are filled. The contact address (also for further information) is
