This is the first announcement and call for paper for the
Fifth International Conference on Sampling Theory and Applications.
Sampling theory is at the interface of analog/digital conversion and is therefore ubiquitous in modern technology. Sampling theory has established itself as a important field of analysis with strong interdisciplinary links and a wide range of applications.
This interdisciplinary conference will gather mathematicians, engineers, and applied scientists involved in modern data processing problems. Its main purpose is to exchange information at all levels on the state-of-the-art of sampling theory. Emphasis will be given to
Topics include, but are not limited to
Scientific Committee: Akram Aldroubi, John Benedetto, Carlos Berenstein, Paul Butzer, Pete Casazza, Ole Christensen, Hans G. Feichtinger, Paulo Ferreira, Simon Godsill, Karlheinz Gröchenig, Chris Heil, John R. Higgins, Armin Iske, A.J.E.M. Stens, Bruno Torresani, Thomas Strohmer, Martin Vetterli, Dave Walnut, Ahmed Zayed, Yehoshua Zeevi.
Local Organizers: Hans G. Feichtinger and NuHAG (Numerical Harmonic Analysis Group), Department of Mathematics, University of Vienna, Strudlhofgasse 4, A-1090 Wien
Format: There will be two invited one-hour lectures per day, 30 minute talks, poster session for the more technical and specific presentations, and the opportunity for software presentations.
Location: Strobl is a scenic village in the lake region near Salzburg with a beautiful and stimulating environment. Local transportation to and from Vienna and Salzburg at the beginning and end of the conference will be organized.
Accompanying Event: Assuming sufficient interest we plan a one or two-day workshop on ``Nonuniform Sampling Algorithms and their MATLAB implementation'' at the University of Vienna immediately preceding the conference on May (23th and) 24th.
The place allows for about 100 participants, which can book single or double rooms. Participants will take lunch and dinner together at the conference site if not arranged otherwise. Expected costs per person/day in a single resp. double room are approx. EURO 60/50 (full board Vollpension).
REGISTRATION FEE: 120 EURO (= approx. 118 US Dollar)
Registration and accomodation should be paid at the conference site. VISA, Master Card and American Express will be accepted.
