Some aspects of the chaotic diffusion of Trojans

A recently developed mapping model for the 1:1 resonance has been used to investigate the long term dynamics of Jupiter's Trojans. By using frequency analysis of orbits obtained by the mapping model we found a chaotic region in the case when the eccentricity of Jupiter is constant. However, the chaotic orbits emerging from this region are locked into the 1:1 resonance for more than 100 million years. We gave evidence that by taking into account the indirect planetary perturbations these chaotic orbits may escape.
