Seriously? Asteroids and Aliens?
Well,... almost. Working as a Post Doc researcher at the Institute for Celestial Mechanics and Ephemeris Calculation (IMCCE) at the Pairs Observatory I am currently investigating asteroid deflection for the NEOShield project. To be more precise, we try to come up with an asteroid deflection test mission. No worries, we are not planning to send your favourite actor to space any time soon. We advocate to make a deflection test run in order to make sure the international community is prepared to protect the Earth from an asteroid impact, should that become necessary. Apart from Near Earth objects, I am also working on extra solar planets in double star systems. An Earth with two sun may sound like science fiction, but planets have already been discovered in such configurations. One of the questions my collaborators and me are trying to answer is: Where can one find habitable Earth-like planets in double star systems? Interested? Then visit my research page.
