Sweden: Deported Congolese Pastor alleges ill-treatment upon return

According to the Swedish online news portal “The Local”, a Congolese pastor who had been seeking asylum in Sweden, was deported back to the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he was exposed to a risk of torture and ill-treatment. In an email to a Swedish refugee activist Pastor Jean Kabuidibuidi, who is said to be a critic of the regime, wrote that he was tortured and beaten after his arrival. Nevertheless, the Swedish Migration Board defends its decision, calling Mr. Kabuidibuidi's allegations “unconfirmed”.
