Civil society organisations of Moldova: Call for Applications - Micro-Grant

In the framework of the project “Atlas of Torture – Following up on the recommendations of the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture”, independent civil society organisations of Moldova are invited to apply for a grant amounting to € 3,000 for activities aiming at promoting the prevention of torture.
In particular, advocacy and outreach activities as well as educational activities in the field of the absolute prohibition of torture and other forms of ill-treatment are welcome.
The beneficiaries of the sub-grants shall be selected according to the following criteria:

  • Substantive expertise in the prevention of torture and other forms of ill-treatment, particularly regarding the specific situation in Moldova;

  • Reputation for being an independent and credible actor in the field of human rights protection;

  • Financial prudence;

  • Ability to implement the proposed micro-project;

  • The proposed micro-project is contributing to the overall objective of the Atlas of Torture project, i.e. torture prevention.

The application should not be longer than three pages, be written in English, and shall contain a short description of the applying organisation, the proposed activity or activities, including an explanation of the contribution of this activity / these activities to the prevention of torture in Moldova; and a short budget proposal.

The selection process will involve a pre-selection of the written proposals and a personal interview with the pre-selected applicants. After the selection a contract with the beneficiaries will be signed. The contract includes a roadmap for the implementation of the proposed activity or activities including a budget, detailing how the grant will be used. The beneficiary will be assigned a contact person of the Atlas of Torture project for monitoring and consulting during the implementation phase. The beneficiary will be obliged to submit regular progress reports and a final report to the Atlas of Torture project team depending on the exact duration of the micro-project.
