BRITE Poland

Poland decided to join the BRITE-Constellation mission by contributing two satellites. On December 16, 2009, the (Polish) Minister of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW) signed a contract to fund the project

                                 "BRITE: First Polish Scientific Satellite".

According to the agreement with the Minister, two Polish satellites will be built: the first one, BRITE-PL (also called ‘Lem’), will be launched in 2012 into a polar Low Earth Orbit, while the second satellite, BRITE-PL2, will be launched about 1 1/2 years later.



The first of the two Polish BRITE satellites BRITE-PL will have an instrument sensitive to the BLUE, such as for BRITE-AUSTRIA. The option to develope a UV-sensitive instrument for the second Polish BRITE satellite is currently under investigation.
