XIth International Cesh Congress
Vienna 2006

Program

Carrying out the programme: The goal of the event is to pose socially relevant questions, both with regard to the historical dimension and to the comparative geographical dimension, taking the particular background of sport history involved into consideration. The presentations will be allotted to different panels according to their content. A keynote speaker will open each panel; presentations by other scientists and discussions will follow. The content of the various panels will overlap; for this reason the panels may not be regarded in any way as being independent of each other.

The following panels are scheduled: sport - identity - popular culture
sport - identity - socialisation
sport - identity - corporeality
sport - identity - gender
sport - identity - ethnic self-definition
sport - identity - religion
sport - identity - nationality
sport - identity - theory

Languages used at the Congress: The languages used at the congress are English, French and German. If a presentation is held in another language, the presenter must be able to answer questions in one of the three congress languages. The abstract must also be in one of these three languages.

Presentation at the start of the Congress: Jennifer Hargreaves

Horst Ueberhorst Honorary Address: Ingomar Weiler

At the end of the event there will be a podium discussion by a round of experts, with subsequent discussion by the public, which will illuminate the results of the congress in summary.

We will publish the schedule of the Congress and the circular letters on this site. Please visit it regularly.
