Gordon Dyer had his first career in the RAF. He joined the Systems Group at the Open University in 1978, contributing as an author, course team chair, and exam board chair of the systems modeling course. He was a member of several other course teams. Though formally retired, he continues to add to his publications of book chapters and some 25 articles in 10 different academic journals.
