Philip G. Lewin is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Sociology at the University of Georgia. His dissertation examines the dynamics of political participation, environmental exploitation and persistent poverty in Central Appalachia. He has written previously on the ethics of ethnographic fieldwork and the ethics of authenticity within youth subcultures.
