The Macrophyte Group is studying aquatic and semi-aquatic plants in rivers and floodplain waters, and in shallow lakes. Special activity is focused on the Danube River in its full length and its tributaries. The major goal is a deeper understanding of the distribution of macrophytes and their interaction with the abiotic and biotic environment, and their relation to man’s activities.
