Dear Colleagues,
It is our pleasure to welcome you to the conference Vienna II: Ancient Egyptian Ceramics in the 21st Century, to be held in Vienna from the 14th –18th of May 2012. The purpose of the conference is to offer a significant review of our knowledge of Egyptian pottery three decades after the influential meetings in Vienna during which among others, the Vienna System was developed.
The preliminary programme for the conference is now complete and can be downloaded as a pdf-file at the bottom this page. A final programme as well as the abstracts will be made available closer to the date of the conference.

48 papers over 5 days (Monday May 14th-Friday 18th)7 keynote lectures from invited guests and members of the scientific committeeTopics of the conference include Scientific methods and Analysis, Fabrics and Wares, Imports and Cultural exchange, Functional Analyses, and Regional and Site assemblagesWe have 2 designated poster sessions in which attendees can discuss the research posters on display with their authorsThere will be a workshop on visualization/drawing of Egyptian ceramics by Stan Hendrickx (link here for questionnaire to fill out and complete)2 social events including a visit to the Kunsthistorisches Museum, ViennaPlenty of time for discussion and reflectionPlease note that registration for presenters and non-presenters is open until April 1st. Update for conference registration: If you have not already payed your registration fee, please note that the deadline for pre-conference registration has been extended until the 10th of April. Payment details are listed here. If for some reason you are unable to transfer your payment by this date, we can accept cash payment at the conference, but the price will be 120 (Full) /60 (Student) Euros. If this applies to you, please confirm your attendance in an email to the committee by the 10th of April so that we can consider your attendance for catering purposes and in organising the social events.
