Dragon boat journey in the Cultural Landscape Wachau

A dragon boat is a boat 12,49m long and 1,16m wide. A dragon boat is decorated with a dragonhead and a dragontail. Up to 20 people can paddle in the boat, a drummer gives the rhythm for the paddling and the steersman gives the direction of the boat.
Our journey starts at the rowing club Spitz, where we will meet our guides, who will steer the boats and the water rescue team who will escort us on the river.
The current of the river Danube carries gently through the exceptional landscape of the Wachau. So there is no need to be extra sporty or to have any experience in paddling a boat. In the calm space of the marina in Spitz the highly experienced guides will explain the most important things to do on the boat. Still the space on the bot is limited and with handling the paddles you will most likely get wet. So bring extra clothes and leave your valuables with the tour guide on the bus, which will be waiting at the endpoint of the journey.

One of the highlights is Dürnstein, the former seat of the powerful medieval Kuenring dynasty. A place full of history where will get a comprehensive information of our guide, who has a lot of information about the history and the features and the requirements of the cultural heritage site.
