SIL-AUSTRIA invites master and phd students, post docs and whoever feels close enough to a bottom-up driven, limnology-oriented interuniversity meeting to:

With the FBFW initiative SIL-AUSTRIA addresses young researchers in limnology (MSc and PhD students and Post-docs) and offers them:
The meeting is organised by SIL-AUSTRIA in collaboration with the International Training Programmes in Limnology IPGL, the WasserKluster Lunz and the Institute of Limnology Mondsee. The responsible organizing committee consists of students and post-docs of the Wassercluster Lunz, the Department of Limnology of the University of Vienna, the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna and the Danube University Krems.
The program represents today's science frontiers in aquatic ecology and its applications. The meeting will inform upcoming limnologists about perspectives in basic and applied limnological research, will offer training workshops targeting manuscript and grant writing skills, and feature training lectures about international mobility and research grants for young scientists (e.g. Marie-Curie Actions within FP 7 of the EC).
The key-lectures of this year's program will be given by Dr. Birgit Sattler (University Innsbruck) and Dr. Robert Ptacnik (Carl-von-Ossietzky University Oldenburg, Germany) representing the science perspective of limnol ogy. Further highlight speakers are Dr. Georg Wolfram (DWS Hydro-Ökologie, Vienna), successfull limnological freelancer, and Mag. Therese Lindahl (FFG) informing about European research programs.
Dr. Birgit Sattler from the Institute of Ecology at the University of Innsbruck is a specialist on subzero aquatic ecosystems and will bring latest news from the cryosphere.
Dr. Robert Ptacnik works at the Institute of Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment (ICBM) at the Carl-von-Ossietzky University Oldenburg, and will report about state-of-the-art research on plankton diversity.
Dr. Georg Wolfram is CEO of DWS Hydro-Ökologie, a technical bureau for applied freshwater ecology, and is an experienced independently working limnolog ist.
Mag. Therese Lindahl is working at the Austrian Agency for National and International Grant Application (FFG). She is head of the section for European and International Research Programs and is a knowledgeable source of information for European and International Grant Applications at the FFG.
Participants are invited to contribute their own presentations of student-driven research in limnology. Presentations of planned studies - asking for feedback when it is still usable - are as welcome as talks and poster contributions about finished publication-ready research results.
A BBQ and the Blues Brewery will take care of setting an appropriate atmosphere for successful professional and social networking.
The offical meeting language is English and we especially invite international participants to come to Lunz to share ideas, knowledge as well as some fun!

Participants presenting finished research are welcome to do this in the form of a 10 minutes talk (+ 2 minutes discussion) instead of a poster.
Please supply a title, an abstract of not more than 250 words and the planned format of your presentation on the registration form. If you are already registered and wish to add a presentation, write to: fresh@wkl.ac.at
