Full Day Tours

F1 - Burgenland - Pannonic Impressions (Full Day)

Lake NeusiedelBurgenland is the most eastern and youngest province (since 1921) of Austria and has been ever since a (natural) frontier between east and west as there the pannonian lowlands are modulating into the foot-hills of the Alps.
Here you will also find one of the few stepp lakes in Europe, Neusiedler See (Neusiedler Lake). Because of the fertile loess soil and the mild "pannonic" climate Burgenland is one of the most important vinery regions in Austria.

Driving first to Eisenstadt, the capital of Burgenland we visit the castle of Esterhazy, the Haydn-Mausoleum as well as the Bergkirche. Continuing to the roman quarry of St. Margarethen lunch will be served in or near Mörbisch, a lovely little village next to Neusiedler See. Enjoy the lovely countryside during a boat trip. Afterwards we continue to the charming village Rust, which is very famous for its stork-colony. There you will have the chance to taste all the different wines growing in this area. Then we will start our way home to Vienna.

Tour Time: Sunday July 8, 2007 9:00 -17:00
Price: € 125,00 per person

Services included: deluxe coach, licensed guide, admission fee to Esterhazy Palace, Haydn-Haus and Bergkirche, lunch, boat trip on Neusiedler See and a wine tasting.

F2 - Along the Danube (Full Day)

On this full day excursion you explore the romantic Danube valley. After a short drive through the north of the Vienna woods we arrive to the "Schöne Blaue Donau" as immortalized in the music of Johann Strauss.

The first stop is Melk where we visit the Benedictine monastery, which is located on a rock 100 metres above the Danube - a highlight of the day. The monastery was first built in the 11th century but several times destroyed until it was rebuilt between 1702 and 1726. Today it is one of the most splendid examples of baroque architecture. The visit of the church and the library with over 80.000 volumes and 2.000 manuscripts is a must. We continue to the charming village of Maria Taferl where a delicious Austrian lunch is served. Back to the Danube we take a ship downriver along the numerous fruit orchards and vineyards. The wines of the Wachau are amongst the most famous and favoured wines of Austria. Passing by castles that have been built for the safety of the shipping on this part of the danube as robber-knights used to let ships only pass after having paid a toll we arrive to Dürnstein at the east entrance to the Wachau. This little medieval town with its church originally from the 15th century and then later reconstructed in baroque style is worth a visit! Richard, the Lionheart was captivated here after his return from the third crusade.
Transfer back to Vienna by coach.

Tour Time: Monday July 9, 2007 9:00 -17:00
Price: € 110,00 per person

Services included: deluxe coach, licensed guide, admission fee to Melk, lunch, boat trip on the Danube

F3 - Across the Border – Gregor Mendel in Brno

Gregor MendelIn the morning we depart by coach from Vienna to Brno , a little town in Czech Republic , not far away from the Austrian-Czech border. Upon arrival we will visit the Mendel Museum of Genetics in the Augustinian Abbey. Gregor Mendel studied in Vienna , but lived and worked from 1843 on in Brno . He was an Augustinian friar in the Abbey of Brno, where he became abbot in 1867.

The exhibition "Gregor Mendel" is based on "The Genius of Genetics, a celebration of Gregor Mendel (1822-1884) through science and art". It aims to unravel the "little trick" and "long story" of Mendel's discovery. It goes beyond the romantic myth of the cloistered monk undertaking incongruous experiments with peas; it explores "Mendel the man", and what led to the formulation of his laws of heredity.

After the visit of the Mendel Museum we walk to the famous Starobrno brewery where guests can enjoy a typical Czech lunch together with a glass of Starobrno beer. After lunch a round visit of the brewery is planned. Invigorated, a short visit of the city of Brno is scheduled before the return to Vienna .

Tour Time: Tuesday July 10, 2007 9:00 - 17:00
Price: € 110,00 per person

Services included: deluxe coach, licensed guides, admission fee to Mendel Museum and Starobrno brewery, lunch

F4 - Culture and Wine (Full Day)

Departing Vienna we drive by coach to Krems. There are not many towns in Austria that can offer such a variety of cultural, historical and culinary possibilities as the town of Krems-Stein. Located east in the Wachau the more than 1.000 years old town that has been declared world heritage site by UNESCO in 2000, impresses amongst others with its old town and the historic buildings.

After a round tour of the old town we continue to the Kunstmeile, a site with several museums, where we visit the caricature museum. The caricature museum Krems was built after the plans of famous architect and caricaturist Gustav Peichl (IRONIMUS) and opened in 2001. Different than in other similar museums the main emphasis is not on Comic Strip and Animated Cartoon, but on cartoon and humorous drawing. The important section of editorial cartoon (political caricature) is represented permanently in the IRONIMUS cabinet.

We continue for lunch to the restaurant KlosterUnd from Toni Mörwald, one of the best known cooks of the region and Austria. Invigorated from lunch we drive by bus to Langenlois to the so called "Loisium". In Austria's largest viticultural town a special centre about the world of wine was created with the Loisium. Overground the visitor's centre, planned and built by well-known American architect Steven Holl, is welcoming the guests. Underground visitors are exploring the cellar world which is leading guests in a mystic world of senses. The guide through the cellar world that follows the way of the grape (from the vineyard to the wine bottle) includes a wine tasting. Return to Vienna by coach.
