The research project “Deaf Austrians in National Socialism” (May 2008 – April 2009) brought forth so far unknown historical facts about the harassed and discriminated Deaf minority in Austria. Verena Krausneker und Katharina Schalber produced a DVD that presents these facts and thus brings one aspect of Austrian Deaf history into focus.
In 8 thematically arranged chapters 24 Deaf eye-witnesses relate what they remember about the Nazi regime and WW 2: Deaf Clubs · Schools for the Deaf · Euthanasia · Forced Sterilisations · Shoa · Camps · War · Resistance
The DVD includes a glossary of important terms in ÖGS and German, as well as a list of important addresses and literature on the subject that can be downloaded.
