"Planning of research and development investments in a business simulation game"
Decisions on nature, times, and levels of investments in research and development are crucial for the long-term success of an enterprise. Because learning by doing is difficult in this area, corresponding simulation games are a valuable part of business education. This paper presents such a game. It is based on JAVA and hence accessable via Internet. Though the problems tackled are fairly complex in reality, the underlying model only needs comparatively few key variables and parameters. We describe background, objectives, and system design of the game as well as its practical usage.
