Commentary

Inscribed upside-down on the bottom of the patera near the foot; only a single crack disturbes two letters, the reading is unambiguous. A dextroverse reading 
lit can be excluded because of the ductus (prolonged hastae of the first and third letters) and the comparison with BG·7 and BG·28.1; upside-down inscriptions on bowls and cups are common in the Bergamo area. Probably an abbreviation of a personal name, see the word pages. An interpretation as a workman's mark is likely considering the reoccurrence of the sequence in the area of Bergamo.
