Commentary

The same name is attested in Latin script: see atecua

1) ate-*kuo-, -kuā is probably pronounced /-kuā/ and not /*-kā/ because of the writing of the same name attested in Latin script in -CVA instead of -QVA. (Lejeune 1971: 49, 59, fn. 167, 69) 2) This attested form could have preserved pie */kw/ and could be a variant of atepa without the mutation kw > p (cf. Motta 2000: 210, Eska 2006: 232 fn. 7).
