Original announcement

Introduction

WOPAL is on any aspect of the phonology of African languages, i.e. it is not restricted to the general theme of the Phonology Meeting ("Structure and Melody"). We encourage participants at the Phonology Meeting to join our workshop, but also welcome participants who do not plan to present a paper at the main meeting.

Presentations

We would like to encourage discussion among participants, therefore presentations will be limited to 10-15 minutes (depending on the number of presentations). For the sake of discussion, it would be helpful if each presentation were accompanied by a handout containing the data or theses to be discussed. If you require special equipment (e.g. overhead projector, beamer) please let us know by 30th October.

Abstracts

To help us arrange the program, please send us a short abstract (half a page), email or snailmail, to reach us by

31st May 2002

(Before this date you should know whether your abstract for the main meeting has been accepted.) We will arrange for these abstracts to be printed before the meeting and will also try to make them available on this website. Please use the format guidelines from the main meeting (except for the length).

Fee

Since the workshop is an integral part of the main meeting, there is no extra fee for the workshop, but workshop participants must pay the fee for the main meeting (EUR 50, students 25).

We look forward to seeing you at the workshop!
