Eighth International Phonology Meeting

Syllables !?

1-3 November 1996, Vienna

Abstracts

This document contains the abstracts for the Eighth International Phonology Meeting. Many of them are GIF graphics files: Be warned that loading them takes a LONG time. The SMALL files are for viewing on screen (800 pixels wide) and the BIG files for printing (full 300 dpi resolution).

To view some of the .HTM files, you will need to install the "freely distributable but not public domain" phonetic font TECHPHON, available here (TrueType or Postscript .PFB and .PFM). Save the relevant file(s) to disk and install the font in the normal way on your computer.

Authors are encouraged to send me an HTML formatted version of their abstract for inclusion here, and for better printing in the Abstracts volume.

Not all abstracts are currently present here: those that are missing are a) the main speakers and b) those which haven't yet been successfully converted to a readable form. Please excuse the many missing links.

The topics are:

  • 1. Structure and content of syllables
  • 2. External evidence for phonological syllables and their constituents
  • 3. Inter-syllable relations
