How to use this database:

Right now the aim of this database is to store all NuHAG publications, but for the future we can extend these data to various publications since we can associate each entry to specific groups (NuHAG, HASSIP,…)

The main features of this site are:

  • exporting of any search result to BibTeX, TEXT or CSV format;
  • upload of papers to each entry (password protected);
  • handling of complex queries
If you have any problems with logging for up/downloading please send an email to the Webmaster.

[A] QUICK SEARCH:

At the start-site ("home") you find  search»  which allows you to search within title and author. The symbol % is used as a wildcat.
Clicking on one of the titles will bring you to the editing modus (see [D]).
If a download to an entry is available DOWNLOAD available will appear. By clicking on it you will have to enter user and the password.

[B] EXPORTING:

If you want to export entries to a BibTeX, TEXT or CSV format you have to use a QUERY!
How it works is quite simple:
First you define an ACTUAL QUERY. You can use a stored query or define a new one (see<[C]).
Then you can  LIST  or  EXPORT  this query. At the start site you see the ACTUAL QUERY (usually the last one which was used). How to create a new query will be described in [C]. If you want to use a stored query just select it from saved queries and click
 set selected query to ACTUAL QUERY» .
If the ACTUAL QUERY is exactly as you wish you can click  LIST ACTUAL QUERY»  (or use [LIST] from menu) to list this query or click  EXPORT ACTUAL QUERY»  (or use [EXPORT] from the menu) to export it.
Before you export the ACTUAL QUERY by clicking
 export to BIB–file»  or
 export to CSV-file»  or
 export to TXT-file»
you have to choose which fields should be exported. There are several fields that you probably do not want to be exported. Just select your desired fields and click  UPDATE selection» . Don't forget to click  UPDATE selection»  otherwise the fields which appear under the line Export following fields: will be exported.
NOTICE: Since each BibTeX file should contain as much information as possible ALL files are exported in the BibTeX-mode (empty fields will not appear!)

[C] DEFINING QUERIES:

Since we are working with a MySQL-database we are able to formulate complex queries.

First you have to choose which field you want to filter on and click  NEXT»
e.g. author  NEXT»
Then you have to set this field into a logical context:
  • Use "is LIKE" if you want to use wildcat "%". In this mode wildcats will be added at the beginning and the end of the expression.
  • Use "=" if the result should be EXACT the expression.
    ATTENTION: Using "=" in combination with e.g. author will show only those publications where the denoted author is the ONLY author. If you want to see all publications where the author appears with possible other authors you have to use "is LIKE".
  • Use "!=" for "IS NOT".
To avoid typos a possible selection for the field will appear (depending on the field). E.g by using author you will get a drop-down menu for selection, using "journal" will list all possible journals... (Please use COPY & PASTE!)

e.g. "is LIKE" and select Feichtinger, H.G.  NEXT»

Now we see our query
author LIKE "%Feichtinger, H.G.%",
which is set automatically as the ACTUAL QUERY. Therefore we can use this for  LIST  or  EXPORT .
To create a more complex query click e.g.  [OR]  to continue the query. Then you can choose another field as described above.
Let us assume that we have choosen Groechenig as second author, then our query will look like:
author LIKE "%Feichtinger, H.G.%" OR author LIKE "%Gröchenig, K.%"

If we want to combine this with a year restriction we first have to stick them together by clicking  (…)  and then
 [AND]
year
>=
2002
 NEXT»

Then we have a more complex query like:
(author LIKE "%Feichtinger, H.G.%" OR author LIKE "%Gröchenig, K.%" ) AND year >= "2002"

The result obviously will be all publications from Feichtinger or Gröching written since 2002. If you want to save this query click [QUERY] in the menu, enter a short name for the query at Save ACTUAL QUERY with this name: and click  SAVE»

[D] MODIFYING THE DATABASE

For UPLOADING a paper to an existing entry click [UPLOAD] at the right upper corner.
After entering user and password you will see a list of all entries. Choose the entry to which you want to upload a paper. Browse to your local version of the paper and click
 UPLOAD THIS FILE»

By EDITING or ADDING an entry please consider following rules:
Multiple values (like authors, organisations,…) have to be separated by the character ";"
The correct input of names is: NAME, (first letter of the FIRST NAME).
i.e.: NAME1, A.; NAME2, B.
To avoid multiple spellings ALWAYS use COPY & PASTE if possible. All names, organizations, journals, publisher, keywords are listed.

If you don't want to mess around with creating complex queries you can use the text-field on the button of the start-side. Just type in a description of your desired query and don't forget to give an identification code so that you will easily find your query. The Webmaster will create the query for you and store it under your given identification code.

To keep the database complete, please check that your papers have been entered and add them if they are missing. Furthermore if you like you can upload your papers (they will be protected by the UPLOAD/DOWNLOAD password).
