Although the project leader is Prof. W.Seiberl from the Department of
Meteorology and Geophysics, Univ. Vienna, the project will mostly be carried
out at NUHAG, where know-how and computers are available.

The purpose of this project is to review and improve recent mathematical
interpolation and approximation methods which appear to be more accurate and
powerful than the traditional ones for gridding of geophysical data set,
mainly gravitational and magnetic measurements.

The project started in September 1995 and should result in direct
applications of the newly developed methods to real world geophysical data.
