How to find us?
The institute is located at the university campus, Althanstraße 14 (acronym: UZA2). This building again is devided into the three parts pharmacy center (thats where the institute is located), the geology center and the computing center of the university of economy. Unfortunately, our localisation is quite different from our postal adress, which is valid for a huge and rather confusing complex of buildings (biology center, UZA2, UZA3, university of economy) and refers to a road with a quite complicated access to our building. Larger and well known buildings next to the pharmacy center are the "Fernwärme Wien" with the Hundertwasser-tower, the local traffic office and the university of economy. Most Viennese people should be able to describe how to get to one of these buildings.

By plane:
If you travel to Vienna by plane, you will arrive at Vienna International Airport Wien-Schwechat, appr. 15 km in the south-east of Vienna. Taxi transfer from the airport downtown will be appr. 350-400 ATS. Local train line S7 goes downtown in one hour intervals until train/subway station Wien-Mitte (25 ATS), a shuttle bus (60 ATS) goes in 30min intervals to Vienna Airportterminal (next to train/subway station Wien-Mitte), and to South and West Train Station ("Süd-", "Westbahnhof"). Starting from train/subway station Wien-Mitte and the Airportterminal, you will get to the institute by subway line U4 (17 ATS, tickets at ticket machines - change necessary - or in cigarette stores), exit at station "Spittelau".

By train:
Trains coming from southern or eastern Europe/Austria, you will arrive at the South Station ("Südbahnhof"), trains coming from western Europe will end at the West Station ("Westbahnhof").
Coming from South Station you will get to the institute by tramway line D (17 ATS, tickets at ticket machines - change necessary - or in cigarette stores), exit at station "Liechtenwerder Platz".
Coming from West Station you will get to the institute by subway line U6 (17 ATS, tickets at ticket machines - change necessary - or in cigarette stores), exit at station "Spittelau".

By car:
The easiest access to the institute is via the so called "Gürtel", which is some kind of local highway in a circle round the inner districts of Vienna (1., 3.-9.). All major highways leading to Vienna are connected to this "Gürtel". To get to the institute, drive on the "Gürtel" parallel to subway line U6 heading towards the local traffic office ("Verkehrsamt", this building should be known to most of the Viennese people) and to the university of economy ("Wirtschaftsuniversität") at Liechtenwerder Platz. Calculate some extra time during rush hours (until 10 am, after 4 pm)!
Turn to your right at Liechtenwerder Platz (between the local traffic office, white building, and the university of economy, glass covered building) and follow the signs to the car parking of the university (parking places outside are scarce and subject to a charge as well). This will be the first entrance on your left for the part of the building which locates the institute ("Pharmaziegarage").

In Vienna:
The most important lines of public transportation are tramway line D (station Liechtenwerder Platz), subway line U4 (station Spittelau) and subway line U6 (Station Spittelau). Most Viennese people will be able to describe how to get to the local traffic office ("Verkehrsamt") and the "Hundertwasserturm" of "Fernwärme Wien".
Our guests are usually accomodated in Hotel Alexander. These hotel is next to the institute and can be found at the adress Augasse 9, 1090 Wien, Tel.: +43 1 31715080.

In the building:
Once you have found the building, the hard work is almost done. The building is devided into sections according to the numbering of staircases/elevators: A-C refer to the geology center, Z refers to the central facilities like lecture hallts, library and porter, D-G refer to the pharmacy center, and H refers to the computing center of the university of economy. In most cases you will enter the building at level 2 in the H section (coming from subway or tramway) or in the Z section (coming from the hotel). If you come with your car and parked it in our car parking you will enter in the same sections, but on level 1.
All rooms of the institute are on level 5 in the sections E and F of the pharmacy center. Thus, orientate at the elevators with the signs E and F and go to level 5. The secretary of the institute can be found in section F under its room number 2F504. In case you get lost in the building, use any phone at one of the section entrances and dial 8209.
