Am 05. Dezember 2017 wurde Mag. Lisa Maria Palli im Meerschlössl für Ihre herausragende Diplomarbeit im Bereich ihres Englisch Lehramtsstudium von der Universtät Graz ausgezeichnet.

Ao. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Roberta Maierhofer gratulierte der Prämierten wie folgt:

"Congratulations to Lisa Palli for receiving the Excellence Award in English and American Studies with an Inter-American Topic! Lisa's thesis with the title “Becoming a (Wo)Man: The Portrayal of Gender in Four Contemporary Young Adult Novels from the Americas” focuses on gender stereotypes and (subtle) sexism in general, and on (the development of) the protagonists’ gendered identities in particular by analyzing "City of the Beasts" by Isabel Allende, "Return to Sender" (2009) by Julia Alvarez, "Under the Mesquite" (2011) by Guadalupe Garcia McCall, and "I Lived on Butterfly Hill" (2014) by Marjorie Agosín. In my speech honoring Lisa's accomplishments, I dedicated the award to Marjorie Agosín, whose grandmother Helena Broder had to flee Austria in 1939; and in 1973 Marjorie and her family had to flee again, this time from Chile. In her thesis, Lisa addresses the personal and the political, and Marjorie as a poet and writer, Human Rights Activist and recipient of the United Nations Leadership Award, as well as Professor of Latin American Studies at Wellesley College, has both in her life and her writing worked towards social justice by emphasizing the importance of the past for the present and the future. Academic and creative work can be "angels of memory.""
