Who is the Studienvertretung (Stv)?

The Studienvertretung are the officialy elected representatives of the students. Currently, this are:

Stefan Sametinger (Vorsitzender)
Sara Pertoll (1. Stellvertreterin des Vorsitzenden)
Mirjam Zangerl (2. Stellvertreterin des Vorsitzenden)
Johanna Probst

But the Stv sees itself as a part of the Institutsgruppe (IG), a open group of students, who have all the same right to speak and decide.

Institutsgruppe KSA (IG)

The Institutsgruppe (= students department) of the institute of Cultural and Social Anthropology, in short IG KSA, was founded during ÖH-Wahlen (= österreichische HochschülerInnenschaft) 2003, when a new team of student representatives has been elected. Since then the IG organizes weekly meetings (Plena) to talk about and deal with different topics. This includes the support of the student’s representatives: On the one hand in decision making processes concerning the student’s representation at the department, on the other hand with the realization of different projects. Besides additional studying activities the IG offers a frame for educational-political activities as well as for non-institutional issues.

Currently the IG contains approximately 5 to 10 persons, who are actively involved in different projects. As we are planning to expend our activities, we are glad to welcome new members of the IG, who want to participate activ or passiv. The IG needs your support!

We have a lot of activities, where you can (but don’t automatically have to) participate:

• political actions
• Working groups (for example the Arbeitsgruppe (AG) free of barriers)
• organizing the Studi-Café (chill out and learning room, 4. floor)
• Organising of parties and other events
• tutorials for first-year students (Erstsemestrigentutorien)
• Ethnostammtisch (informal meeting of students, to discuss and have fun)
• weekly IG meeting (Plenum)
• inscription counseiling at the begining of the winter semester
• course guidance during the whole semester (Studienberatung im Studicafé)
• representation of the interests of the students
• communication with higher  organisational levels of the university
• project support
• writing statements to the actual educational situation
• spontaneous actions of  members or non-members
• …

Tutorials for new students (Erstsemestrigentutorium

The Erstsemestrigentutorien are held by students in the 2nd or higher semesters for students of the first-semester. The aim is to answer all the questions that arise in the chaos of the first months at university, to establish contacts to other beginers but also to more experienced students in order to exchange usefull informations. But most of all: we want to do some funny things together, cause university is more than just a building!

If you want to hold a tutorial, just write to the Stv (stv.ksa@univie.ac.at). There is a free training-seminar from 18. to 21 September 2012!
