Application Details

Selection Procedure

The number of participants is strictly limited to ensure an efficient interaction between students and lecturers. We will accept a maximum of 120 students or post-docs and 30 principal investigators. Participants will be primarily selected on the basis of submitted abstracts. A maximum of two students per research group or laboratory may be instated.

Registration Fees

The registration fees are 700,- Euro for students and postdocs, and 950,- Euro for all other participants. The registration fees include roundtrip shuttle transportation from Salzburg to Gosau and full board and lodging (6 nights) at the venue. No payments may be made before notification of acceptance has been received from the organizers.

FEBS Youth Travel Fellowship (YTF)

A total of 32 FEBS Youth Travel Fellowships are available (2 reserved for students from Africa) to help young scientists attending the meeting.

To be eligible for an award, individuals should apply with an abstract, a one page curriculum vitae and two letters of recommendation. The candidates should include with the application their full address, phone and fax numbers and their e-mail address. Payment of the Travel Fellowships will be made upon arrival at the meeting. All applications for YTF grants must be made via the online registration form. Verification of a FEBS constituent society membership as well as two letters of recommendation must be sent by FAX or e-mail attachment to the course organizing office not later than one week after registration.

Conditions for YTF Award

  • Applicants must present a communication as the first author.

  • Applicants should (a) be or have been, a student at an institution of higher learning in a country where there is a FEBS Constituent Society; (b) be a member of a FEBS Constituent Society; (c) be under the age of 31 years in the current year; (d) not have received a grant from the Youth Travel Fund to attend an Advanced Course in the current year.

  • Awards will be made only to persons traveling from their current country of residence to another country.

  • Where support for traveling is given, the amount of the award shall be related to the distance from the applicant's place of work to the venue of the meeting.

  • The awards shall be made by the FEBS treasurer in consultation with the chair of the scientific committee of the meeting.

  • Only in exceptional circumstances may any of these conditions be waived.
