Conference poster (5 MB)

The conference took place from 26 to 28 June 2013
at the Department of Linguistics, University of Vienna.

Since early 2011 the University of Vienna has been hosting an online edition project of Tocharian manuscripts funded by the FWF Austrian Science Fund. Research on Tocharian is interdisciplinary and international per se, and much depends on cooperation with neighboring disciplines such as Buddhist studies and other philologies of Central Asian languages. The conference was therefore dedicated to the study of Tocharian texts and Tocharian culture in all its aspects, and open to transdisciplinary approaches.

We hope to publish the conference proceedings in the near future.

Keynote speakers:

  • Desmond Durkin-Meisterernst (Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, Germany)
  • Victor H. Mair (University of Pennsylvania, USA)
  • Georges-Jean Pinault (École pratique des hautes études, France)
