Commentary

No doubt a lexicalized verbal noun of eṅk- (Gv.) "to seize, take" (PPt eṅku) with rounding (as per Adams, 2DoT). While Adams translates "cover" and "sheath", Thomas 1957: 92 n.1 translates "Falte", "Umhüllung" (= Skt. puṭa-). Note that the same range of meaning ("fold" and "sheath") is possible for TA kälyc in A 342 a 3, which is parallel to oṅkor in THT 79 a 2.
