M. Can Akan of Ege University Observatory in Turkey reports Photoelectric two-colour (B, V) light curves of 44 Tau and 78 Tau have been obtained with the 48 cm Cassegrain reflector of Ege University Observatory equipped with an uncooled EMI 9781A photomultiplier. The magnitudes were measured relative to HR 1269 and HR 1422 for 44 Tau and 78 Tau, respectively.
The figure on the cover of the newsletter shows the V light curves of 44 Tau during the nights of 1989 December 1, 4 and 6 with the times expressed as Heliocentric Julian Dates. It can be seen that the amplitude changes dramatically from cycle to cycle indicating the existence of muHiple frequencies. In fact during the nights of December 1 and 6 some amplitudes are near zero. An analysis of the periods of 44 Tau is currently being carried out.
The light curves of 78 Tau obtained during 1989 February 28, March 28, November 6 and December 11 show variations up to 0.05 mag. Further observations of both variables will be continued during the next observing season.
