Local and Covariant Deformations of Wedge Algebras in Quantum Field Theory

Abstract:

A novel deformation procedure for quantum fields, introduced by Grosse and Lechner in the non--interacting case, is extended to the general algebraic framework of quantum field theory. Given any theory, it provides a one-parameter family of nets of wedge algebras which are local and transform covariantly under the underlying representation of the Poincaré group. The corresponding scattering matrices break the Lorentz symmetry in spite of the covariance and locality properties of the deformed nets.
