Owe Philipsen (Muenster):

Exploring the QCD phase diagram on the lattice

Abstract:

Lattice simulations at finite baryon density have been impossible due to the so-called sign problem until a few years ago. Since then a number of tricks have been invented to side-step this problem. I discuss those methods and their respective systematic errors, and review the significant progress towards determining the QCD phase diagram at finite temperature and low baryon densities. Simulations on coarse lattices indicate that the phase diagram might well look different than expected.
