The Society for Caribbean Research is an international and interdisciplinary forum for promoting and discussing research on Caribbean and African Diaspora themes – mainly in the field of the social, cultural and historical sciences. Its membership is worldwide, communications are done in English, Spanish, French and German.

In reaction to the desastrous earthquake in Haiti our french colleagues
wrote an open letter to the governments meeting in Montreal, on January
the 25th aiming at a global plan to reconstruct the educational system
of Haiti that got destroyed with institution as the ècole normale
superieure. The letter underlines that an aid in sinc with the needs
formulated by the Haitin colleagues is essential for the success of
international aid.
