Im Sommersemester 2011 ist Prof. Dr. Shalini Randeria Ustinov-Gastprofessorin. Sie ist Ordentliche Professorin für Ethnologie an der Universität Zürich.

Das Thema ihrer beiden Lehrveranstaltungen lautet: “Reproduction, State Interventions and Women’s Bodies: Global Designs and Local Life-worlds”

Am Dienstag, 7. Juni 2011, 19 Uhr hält Shalini Randeria eine Wiener Vorlesung zum Thema: „Enteignen, entrechten, ausgrenzen: Wirtschaftswachstum, Infrastrukturaufbau, Slums und Vision Bombay 2020“

Professional sports today have truly become a global force, a common language that anyone, regardless of their nationality, can understand. Yet sports also remain distinctly local, with regional teams and the fiercely loyal local fans that follow them. This book examines the twenty-first-century phenomenon of global sports, in which professional teams and their players have become agents of globalization while at the same time fostering deep-seated and antagonistic local allegiances and spawning new forms of cultural conflict and prejudice.

Die Sir Peter Ustinov Professur der Stadt Wien zur Erforschung und Bekämpfung von Vorurteilen wurde von dem 2003 von Sir Peter Ustinov in Wien gegründeten Sir Peter Ustinov Institut mit großzügiger Unterstützung durch die Stadt Wien gestiftet und am Institut für Zeitgeschichte der Universität Wien eingerichtet. Die Professur wird im SS 2010 mit Prof. Dr. Andrej Markovits (Professor of Sociology, The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor) besetzt.
