Since its foundation in 1990, the journal "L'Homme. Europäische Zeitschrift für Feministische Geschichtswissenschaft/European Journal of Feminist History" has enriched the field of historical scholarship with innovative research topics of Women’s and Gender History, contributions to theoretical and methodological discussions, interviews, book reviews and critical analyses of current debates on gender justice. Appearing twice a year, the journal is peer reviewed thus achieving academic excellence. It also strives to resonate to a broad audience beyond academia. "L’Homme. Z. F. G." attaches great importance to continuously crossing national borders and maintaining a common European and global communication space and academic field, which is particularly vital in times of increasing nationalist policies. The editors of the journal come from eight different European countries; the advisory board consists of roughly 50 scholars from Europe and the USA.
Like many other feminist projects and publications, "L'Homme. Z. F. G." faces economic uncertainty in a political climate where anti-feminisms and right-wing populism are on the rise. In 2018 the Austrian Federal Ministry of Women’s Affairs stopped its longstanding financial support of the journal’s editorial office. The shift to the right has led the editors to firmly pursuing independence from state funding in order to ensure the publication of "L'Homme. Z. F. G.".
The best way to achieve this goal is to increase the number of private subscribers. Currently, the publisher V&R unipress offers a particularly attractive opportunity to purchase "L'Homme. Z. F. G." by subscription. This circular letter is an urgent appeal to subscribe to our journal. A substantial increase in subscriptions by private subscribers would give "L’Homme. Z. F. G." a solid foundation – and brings topics, discussions and new critical approaches of feminist history right into your home.
We encourage you to support and subscribe to “L’Homme. Z. F. G.”.
