The 11th International Conference of the European Association for Japanese Studies (EAJS) was held from August 31 to September 3, 2005 at Vienna University, Austria. It was organized by the EAJS and the Department of East Asian Studies, Vienna University.
More than 640 participants attended the Conference, most of them gave a paper. This website contains abstracts of (almost) all presentations accessible through the respective programme pages.

Purpose
EAJS
conferences aim at a broad overview of recent trends and developments
in Japanese Studies. The Vienna Conference was staged in
2005, one year before the established triannial schedule, in order
to contribute to the celebrations of the EU - Japan People to People's
Year 2005. As always, Conference participation was not limited to
Europeans, but open to scholars and students from all over the world.
In connection with the Conference, the Third EAJS PhD Workshop was held at Vienna University, from Monday August 29 to Wednesday August 31, 2005. [More...]
