My research
Visual sources shape perceptions of the past and attributions of meaning to events. My research and teaching focus on source-critical methods and theories of visual history as well as approaches to history teaching. My main areas of interest are Holocaust studies and education, anti-Semitism and politics of history, and the history of photography and film. A reflective view of the power of images and processes of visualisation is essential, especially in times of digital revolution, which is increasingly characterised by visual narratives between information and propaganda.
