Ein internationales Team um Philip Walther von der Universität Wien hat einen photonischen Quantencomputer entwickelt – der erste Quantenprozessor, der in den Weltraum geschickt wird. Eine besondere Herausforderung für das Team war es, den Quantencomputer so zu bauen, dass er den extremen Bedingungen im Weltraum standhalten kann. Der mit dem Quantenprozessor ausgestattete Satellit wird die Erde in einer Höhe von 550 km umkreisen. Der Raketenstart ist für Freitag, 20.6., von Vandenberg (Kalifornien) aus geplant; nach dem Eintritt in die Umlaufbahn sollen Kommunikation und Experimente beginnen.
