The University of Perugia (UNIPG) is a medium-size University whose scope is to support the achievement of higher education in many humanistic and scientific areas promoting several bachelor degree courses. A specific contribution of UNIPG to the higher education system is accomplished by promoting advanced vocational educational studies through the activation of several Master Degree and PhD courses. In this framework, UNIPG has started multilateral cooperation between higher education institutions in Europe by promoting student and teaching staff mobility throughout Europe.

UNIPG offers bachelor degrees in Biotechnology oriented to a Pharmaceutical curriculum and in Chemistry and Technology of Drugs which constitute a catchment area of students to be oriented to an European advanced vocational education trough the proposed Pharmacoinformatics curriculum.

Roberto Pellicciari
Full Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at University of Perugia. From 2001 to 2003, he was President of the Division of Medicinal Chemistry of the Italian Chemical Society. In 1999 he was awarded with the "Domenico Marotta" prize of the "Accademia Nazionale delle Scienze detta dei XL", and, in 2001 with the Mentzer price of the French "Societe de Chimie Therapeutique". In 2003 he was awarded the XVI Merz Professorship from the University of Frankfurt. In 2005 he was awarded with the "Giacomello" prize from the Division of Medicinal Chemistry of the Italian Chemical Society. From 2007 to 2008, he has been President of the European Federation of Medicinal Chemistry (EFMC). Roberto Pellicciari has published over 300 papers and several international patents."

Antonio Macchiarulo
Associate Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at University of Perugia. In 2003 he was awarded with a Marie Curie grant at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) in Cambridge (UK) where he worked with Prof. Janet Thornton on the selectivity of molecular recognition between endogenous small ligands and enzymes. He has published over 90 papers in the field of computer aided drug design and medicinal chemistry. A large part of his production concerns the design of CNS modulators and the study of small ligand / protein recognition.
