We consider the sampling problem in shift invariant spaces of $L^2(\R),$ generated by functions which integer translates are a frame for the space. In particular we study sampling spaces. We characterize the functions that belong to sampling spaces and we obtain atomic decompositions of these spaces in sampling subspaces.
