|Title||On a model for biological network formation|
Networks structures play a crucial role in several biological systems and have attracted a lot of attention in recent years: the elasticity property of a leaf is strictly linked with its venation, and the optimal affording of nutrients to our body depends on the good structure of our circulatory system.
Hu and Cai proposed a discrete model for network formation describing the evolution of the pressure field using Darcy’s law and the dynamics of the conductivity under the pressure force effect. In this talk we derive the corresponding continuous model for transportation in porous media and present some analytic results.
