Title A Kinetic Model for Myxobacteria
Abstract Myxobacteria are rod-shaped social bacteria, which glide on solid 2D surfaces showing some interesting movement behavior. In this talk we will perform a formal derivation of a kinetic model for the movement of these bacteria, which is based on the derivation of the original Boltzmann equation for hard spheres, done by Boltzmann in 1872. Similarities as well as differences between these two models in both the derivation and the resulting equations will be explained. Furthermore, existence and uniqueness as well as asymptotic behavior in a special case of our model will be presented.
