Eleven service units, five central support units as well as a special unit comprise the administrative units of the University of Vienna. Three special bodies provide their services: the Equal Opportunities Working Party, the Ethics Committee and the Arbitration Committee.

Special unit
Special bodies
- The University’s Equal Opportunities Working Party is responsible for ensuring that none of the university bodies discriminates against anyone, and to advise and support both university bodies and members on issues of equal opportunities and the advancement of women.
- The Ethics Committee is responsible for reviewing research projects conducted at the University of Vienna which involve considerations of ethical nature.
- The Arbitration Commission mediates in cases of dispute between university members.
- The Ombuds Office of the University of Vienna for Ensuring Compliance with Good Scientific Practice is the contact point for investigating indications and allegations about scientific misconduct.
