Oliver Hahn

In his ERC Starting Grant Project, Oliver Hahn investigates new numerical techniques to improve the accuracy of computer simulations of the formation of structure in our Universe. The incredible amount and quality of upcoming multi-wavelength data from space- and ground-based telescopes will allow unprecedented measurements of the fundamental physics of our Universe. Confronting this data with accurate model predictions might allow us to shed light on the mystery of what exactly is the dark matter and dark energy that dominate the Universe. Oliver Hahn’s group is one of the leading groups in developing new numerical methods to improve the accuracy and scope of such predictions. In the COSMO-SIMS project, he and his group are particularly interested in improving the modelling of dark matter, radically improved methods to connect the early Universe with simulations of the late Universe, as well as physical processes in galaxy clusters.   Note: Grant transferred to the University of Vienna (2020)
