Research areas

* Soft matter: structure, dynamics, rheology, fluctuations, instabilities
* Biophysics: micro- and collective motility
* Optics: quantitative microscopy and light scattering
* Technology transfer
* Experiments in space

"We use light to study soft matter. Our research ranges from commercial products, such as yoghurts or plasticizers, to fundamental building blocks, e.g. colloidal particles and polymers. We also study the collective behavior of biological systems, such as bacteria and epithelial cells. Some of our experiments are also carried out in space, for example on the International Space Station (ISS). We love collaborations, especially with industrial partners." (Roberto Cerbino)
