Recent results in gauge theories on noncommutative Moyal spaces

Abstract:

A recent construction of candidates for renormalisable gauge theories on noncommutative Moyal spaces is reviewed. In these theories, the expected noncommutative action for the pure Yang-Mills part is found to be supplemented with additional terms that may be interpreted as the gauge theory version of the so called harmonic term of the renormalisable noncommutative φ4-theory. The presence of these new terms implies for the corresponding actions the occurence of non trivial vacuum configurations. Their determination together with some related problems are discussed.
