Abstract

English abstract

This article deals with current questions of Cyber- Anthropology in the mirror of a universal Rasta- Philosophy. The intention of the author is not to deliver an empirical or ethnographic example for the use of new communication technologies like the internet or simply to explore and analyse the transformations of a “traditional” or “indigenous” belief- system by means of a postmodern virtual medium. Rather the article intends to open up a new anthropological view at our rapidly transforming understanding of the meaning of a global medium within the framework of a deterritorialized world of moving people and moving images. In the context of the Rastafari- Philosophy and its universal implications the relationship between Cyberspaces and Cyberscapes will be explored and the transformations of our understanding of the Cyberspace through the spectacles of this Philosophy. A Philosophy, that revealed its universal potential in the 21st century through its global dissemination, that would have not been possible without the development and use of the Internet as a global medium.
